Captain’s Blog (S Stokoe)

Jeff Pitt and Ryan Blemings competed in the Inter County Foursomes at Whitburn on April 7th, unfortunately being knocked out in the first round.

A better result was gained in the first round of the North Durham Golf Union Knock out Trophy (handicapped) when the team won three and a half, one and half against Birtley on Sunday 28th. A positive start to the competitive team season.

We have also played a pre-season friendly against Beamish winning seven and halving one, a match that was played in a tremendous spirit by every player who took part.

The first Captains Charity Competition took place on Saturday 13th, thank you to all who took part. Again I can only apologise for my not communicating the intent of the format thoroughly enough….lesson learned!! Incidentally there are still unclaimed raffle prizes behind the bar.

My sincere thanks go to the winners, Carl Peacock and Dave Patten for their understanding, and their generous offer to donate their winnings to the Charities. However, with their agreement, the prize money shall carry forward to the next Captains Charity day. Thank you again boys.

The Team League season commences next Tuesday away to South Moor 5.00pm start. Should any member wish to go and support the team, they would be most welcome, and I feel sure appreciate the very high level of golf produced in the matches.
